History

In 1973, Frank ‘Junior’ Keane formed the Limerick Ladies Soccer League. At the beginning the league consisted of one division with six teams including Hyde Rovers, Mungret, Ballynanty, Garryowen.

The first annual general meeting of the league was held on 15 September 1975 in Cruises Hotel. The officers elected at this historic meeting were, Chairman: Frank Keane, Ballynanty; Vice Chairman: Tony McCarthy, Castleconnell; Secretary: Mary Cotter (Fitzgerald), Mungret; Assistant Secretary: Annette Hehir (Cusack), Mungret; Treasurer: Barry Hurley, EI; PRO: Bob Ryan.

In 1976, the Limerick League became affiliated to the Ladies Football Association of Ireland.

By 1986 the league had three divisions, with a total of 20 teams.
