On Friday 23 November the LWSSL launched the Masters soccer initiative for ladies over 30 who would like to continue or even begin to play the beautiful game.
Four teams, Bridge Celtic, Aisling Annacotty and 2 teams from Murroe contested the opening night at the Murroe Wood Park Astroturf facility. 27 girls participated on the night and with Herbertstown participating next weekend we expect the numbers to grow to the mid-30s. This was a great evening’s football with Murroe triumphing over Aisling Annacotty 3-2 having trailed 2-0 for much of the game. The other game saw honours shared between Bridge Celtic and Murroe on a 3-3 score line. Fantastic games, great craic and lovely refreshments afterwards in the Valley Inn made it a very successful opening night. Onwards to next week and Herbertstown’s debut in the competition.
