FAI U19 Interleague win for LWSSL

MGL 1  LWSSL 2

LWSSL Goal Scorers: Laoise O’Aodha & Laura Lyons

Well done to all the LWSSL U19 squad on their fantastic win over MGL (Metropolitan Girl’s League) on Saturday. A great game of football played by both teams in the Hartstown Huntstown facility – many thanks for the hospitality given by MGL and Hartstown Huntstown – much appreciated by all at LWSSL. The first half was an even affair with the LWSSL girl’s just about edging the better chances, however it remained nil all at half time. The LWSSL girl’s started the second half strongly and went 1-0 up after 10 minutes through Laoise O’Aodha. MGL came back five minutes later and scored to draw the game level at 1-1. Credit to the LWSSL girls they did not let this set back affect them and they regained the lead in the 65 minute though Laura Lyons. Both teams played some excellent football for the remainder of the game and the full time whistle came quickly with an excellent 2 goals to 1 win for the LWSSL girls. This was a well deserved win for the girls and credit to all the squads committent to training over the recent weeks – all the hard work and dedication has paid off. Much credit must also go to the coaching and management team of Dave Rooney, Irene Hehir, JP Buckley and Declan McDermott – the improvement in all the squad is evident for all to see. The squad will now take a well earned break for Xmas returning to training early January in preparation for an important home game v Galway & District League on the weekend of 2nd/3rd February 2019.
